Caliborn is, canonly, a massively misogynistic douchefuck who is absolutely hellbent on destroying every trace of his sister because he is an evil, massively misogynistic douchefuck.
There’s no ~reading between the lines~ here, that’s just how he is. He’s meant to be a parody of actual real massively misogynistic dochefucks who actually exist (for real!) here in this world.
Trying to flip the situation to make him seem like the poor, helpless, defenceless, misunderstood victim while ignoring all the ACTUAL VICTIMS (see: every woman he’s ever interacted with EVER, ESPECIALLY HIS SISTER) is just really awful and kinda shits on every person he’s harmed/abused/killed without guilt or remorse??
Caliborn doesn’t kill or destroy because he’s a misunderstood babby. He does it because he thoroughly enjoys it. He doesn’t feel guilt or remorse for any evil thing he’s done. That’s just how he is.
Like… I just don’t get why people would go actively looking for reasons to make Calliope into the bad guy when Caliborn has been ACTUALLY, CANONLY SHOWN to be an abusive manipulative douchetit.
I know, I know, everyone loves a good twist. If (and that is a VERY BIG if) Calliope were to be shown to be LE in the end, that certainly would be a big surprise! It would also be an extremely shitty surprise that goes completely against the way the narrative and character arcs are currently going.
Sometimes, things really are exactly what they seem. Sometimes, the guy who has actually been confirmed to be an actual manipulative douchefuck time and time again is, actually, the bad guy.
